High Atlas
High Atlas, also called the Grand Atlas Mountains (Arabic: الاطلس الكبير and French: Haut Atlas and Berber: ⴰⴷⵔⴰⵔ ⵏ ⴷⵔⵏ)) is a mountain range in central Morocco in Northern Africa.
The High Atlas rises in the west at the Atlantic Ocean and stretches in an eastern direction to the Moroccan-Algerian border. At the Atlantic and to the southwest the range drops abruptly and makes an impressive transition to the coast and the Anti-Atlas range. To the north, in the direction of Marrakech, the range descends less abruptly.
The range includes Jbel Toubkal, which at 4,167 m is the highest in the range and lies in Toubkal National Park. The range serves as a weather system barrier in Morocco running east-west and separating the Sahara from the Mediterranean and continental zones to the North and West. In the higher elevations of the massif, snow falls regularly, allowing winter sports. Snow lasts well into late spring in the High Atlas, mostly on the northern faces of the range. On the Western High Atlas, there is Oukaïmeden, one of three main Ski Stations in Morocco.

We have a lovely start in the Anti Atlas Mountains but suddenly it turns into quite the ordeal! We get visited by the authorities and at every attempt to find a camp spot we get sent away. Finally we get escorted to a hostel which turns out to be another failure... A rough night follows and we wake up drained! We have a lovely start in the Anti Atlas Mountains but suddenly it turns into quite the ordeal! We get visited by the authorities and at every attempt to find a camp spot we get sent away. Finally we get escorted to a hostel which turns out to be another failure... A rough night follows and we wake up drained! Luckily the next days are much better with some beautiful places to pitch the tent, fantastic scenery and great people to accompany us on our Moroccan Odyssey to the deep south...

Next, we venture to the edge of Toubkal National Park for the scenic Imlil to Aroumd hike. Along the way, we are greeted by the majestic cascade Imlil, a cascading waterfall that adds to the natural beauty of the surroundings. Our experienced guide leads us to the house of their sister, where we are welcomed with open arms. Indulge in a traditional Moroccan lunch lovingly prepared by their mother, while relishing the stunning views of Mount Toubkal and the surrounding mountains from their home.
As our day draws to a close, we make a brief stop at a women's cooperative for Argan Oil. Learn about the traditional process of extracting this precious oil and support the local women who create these incredible products.

High Atlas
High Atlas, also called the Grand Atlas Mountains (Arabic: الاطلس الكبير and French: Haut Atlas and Berber: ⴰⴷⵔⴰⵔ ⵏ ⴷⵔⵏ)) is a mountain range in central Morocco in Northern Africa.
The High Atlas rises in the west at the Atlantic Ocean and stretches in an eastern direction to the Moroccan-Algerian border. At the Atlantic and to the southwest the range drops abruptly and makes an impressive transition to the coast and the Anti-Atlas range. To the north, in the direction of Marrakech, the range descends less abruptly.
The range includes Jbel Toubkal, which at 4,167 m is the highest in the range and lies in Toubkal National Park. The range serves as a weather system barrier in Morocco running east-west and separating the Sahara from the Mediterranean and continental zones to the North and West. In the higher elevations of the massif, snow falls regularly, allowing winter sports. Snow lasts well into late spring in the High Atlas, mostly on the northern faces of the range. On the Western High Atlas, there is Oukaïmeden, one of three main Ski Stations in Morocco.
