'Not Feeling Welcome' Bikepacking the Moroccan Anti Atlas
We have a lovely start in the Anti Atlas Mountains but suddenly it turns into quite the ordeal! We get visited by the authorities and at every attempt to find a camp spot we get sent away. Finally we get escorted to a hostel which turns out to be another failure... A rough night follows and we wake up drained! Join me on an exciting day trip into the High Atlas mountains from Marrakech! In this YouTube video, booked through Airbnb Experiences, we embark on a journey filled with cultural encounters and beautiful taking scenery.
If you'd like to do this same trip, we booked it from here: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/experiences/388245
Our adventure begins at the vibrant Asni weekly market, where we immerse ourselves in the bustling atmosphere. Explore the colorful stalls of fruit and vegetable sellers, witness the lively activity of meat and fish sellers, and be entertained by talented musicians. You won't believe the range of services available, including dentistry and hair cutting!
Next, we venture to the edge of Toubkal National Park for the scenic Imlil to Aroumd hike. Along the way, we are greeted by the majestic cascade Imlil, a cascading waterfall that adds to the natural beauty of the surroundings. Our experienced guide leads us to the house of their sister, where we are welcomed with open arms. Indulge in a traditional Moroccan lunch lovingly prepared by their mother, while relishing the stunning views of Mount Toubkal and the surrounding mountains from their home.
As our day draws to a close, we make a brief stop at a women's cooperative for Argan Oil. Learn about the traditional process of extracting this precious oil and support the local women who create these incredible products.
If you're seeking an immersive cultural experience and breath taking mountain landscapes, this day trip into the High Atlas mountains is a must-watch! Don't forget to hit the subscribe button and join me on my Moroccan adventures. Let's explore the world together!

On this trip you’ll be heading to Marrakech, the heart of Morocco, where spices linger in the market air, the sun sets on street performers, and the senses are treated to a whirlwind of sights and sounds. Discover life in the sprawling medina or get lost in the alleyways towards the souqs. Marvel at the tilework found in the royal Bahia Palace and Dar Si Said or learn how ancient traditions are woven into the fabric of Marrakech; there’s more than one way to fall in love with this cosmopolitan city.
Morocco is a North African country renowned for diversity, and this is one of the things that make it such a fascinating destination to visit. It’s a place where one will find many cultural influences, and the landscape offers visitors a chance to experience the ocean, Atlas Mountain peaks and the Sahara Desert all in one go. You might be travelling to one country, but in Morocco, there is a whole world to explore.
In Essaouira discover how coastal winds and different tribes can shape a port city. It’s a melting pot with Arab, Berber and European influences. While the sea attracts windsurfers, culture vultures flock to the medina’s alleyways for galleries and a spot of people watching. The vibrancy found in the country’s cities is matched by life in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where visitors can swap people watching and fortified walls for hiking, folk music and stargazing.
Observe nomadic shepherds, hike through limestone river canyons, enjoy impressive views and Berber hospitality and warmth as you make Midelt your basecamp for the Middle Atlas Mountains. As the sun goes down on the soaring peaks, the stars will light up the skies.
If we’ve inspired you to explore this north African country further, head over to TourRadar for all the different ways you can discover a world of flavour, culture and history in Morocco.

As the sun goes down on the soaring peaks, the stars will light up the skies.

http://www.morocco-explorers.com helped us discover the famous - or infamous - Tizi n Test Pass, a breath taking drive through the High Atlas Mountains Morocco . A breathtaking drive snakes through the fantastic scenery to an incredible 2092 metres. Dont miss visiting Tinmal mosque on the way - its only one of two open to non muslims in Morocco.
If you want to experience the Tizi n Test and Tinmal mosque in safe and competent hands, then we recommend you contact Morocco Explorers by visiting their website www.morocco-explorers.com
Morocco Explorers operate tours and holidays to the "must see" attractions and then beyond so you can experience authentic local culture and truly outstanding landscapes.
Their unique concept allows you to escape the tourist trail or as they say "dont be a tourist - be an explorer". We at the Morocco Tourist Guide did and we have the videos to prove it!
